Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about buying Bitcoin in Australia with BitcoinAustralia.com. Can’t find your answer? Contact our support team.

What is Bitcoin Australia?

BitcoinAustralia.com is an Australian-owned platform where you can buy Bitcoin and select cryptocurrencies quickly and securely using local bank transfer.

How do I get started?
  1. Create a free account
  2. Verify your identity (KYC)
  3. Place an order for Bitcoin
  4. Pay via bank transfer
  5. Receive crypto into your nominated wallet
Why do I need to verify my account?

Australian law requires us to comply with AUSTRAC’s AML/CTF regulations. Verification protects you against fraud and ensures your account is safe.

Which cryptocurrencies do you support?

Currently we support Bitcoin (BTC). We are reviewing support for Ethereum (ETH) and other popular coins — updates will be announced on our site.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept bank transfers (OSKO/PayID). We do not support card payments, PayPal, or cash.

What are the order limits?

Minimum order: $200 AUD.

  • Level 1 (Standard): $9,900 per order / $19,900 daily / $100,000 annually
  • Level 2 (Enhanced): Higher custom limits available on request

See full fees & limits.

What fees do you charge?

Our standard buy fee is 5%, already included in the quoted rate. There are no hidden charges.

How long does it take to receive my Bitcoin?

Once your bank transfer clears, we release Bitcoin straight to your wallet. OSKO/PayID usually clears in minutes. Standard bank transfers can take 1–2 business days.

Do I need a wallet before I buy?

Yes. You must provide a Bitcoin wallet address when placing an order. We recommend non-custodial wallets where you control the private keys.

Can I cancel or get a refund?

Cryptocurrency purchases are final and irreversible once processed. If your payment hasn’t been received yet, contact us immediately to cancel.

How do you keep my account secure?

We use encrypted communication, bank-grade security, and strict KYC/AML checks. We will never ask for your wallet’s private keys or seed phrase.

How can I avoid scams?

Only send Bitcoin to people you know and trust. Be cautious of investment schemes, recovery scams, and anyone asking for your wallet seed. See our Safety page for tips.

Do I have to pay tax on Bitcoin?

Yes. In Australia, Bitcoin is treated as an asset and subject to capital gains tax (CGT). We recommend speaking with a licensed accountant or tax adviser.

How do I contact support?
